Borough Engineer To Test Eradicators - "■ i A series of experiments, with a view to eradicating the convolvulus creeper i pest, are to be. carried out by the bor- i ougih engineer, Mr O. E. Evans, and 1 fie is to furnish a report of the results i eo the Hastings Borough Council. For some time the council has received a number of complaints about the creeper, which is reported to be very prolific in parts of the borough, and tbe assistance of the Municipal Association of Ncw Zeland and also of the Department of Agriculture was sought. Two substances, each carrying a Government subsidy of one penny a lb.j were recommended from these sources, and in addition a Hastings residont claimcd to have a solution which would eradicate the weed. At last evening's meeting of the council it was decided that the engineer be authorised to carry out experiments with a small area, and report back to the council on the results of his "research work." -
