DUNEDIN, This Day. Ifl an interview to-day the Post* master-Genetal, the Hon. F. Jones, expressed gratification at the growth of correspondence forwarded by air. When the inland air mail services commenced in Marfch, 1636, Mr. Jones said, it Was estimated that, if all correspondence was dispatched by air that would g&in Yn transit times, 170,000 letters would be dispatched every week. The first response, 12,000 a week, was disappointing, but in March of this year the' total was 25,00 0 a week. The fact that New Zealanders were becoming air minded was also provei by the. large increase in letters for* "warded from New Zealand to connect With the Australia-England air service* ; Duting 1935 the fluxnber so forwarded waS 117,809, bflt last year this increased tb 209,64^.
