A POOR RESPONSE
Children and Homework Disappointment at the p6or response shown by many pupils asked to submit homework for correetion while the school was closed on account of the infantile paralysis was expressed by the headmaster of the Napier Boys' High School, Mr. W. T. Foster, in his monthly reporfc adopted by the Napier Secondary Education Board last evening. He thought that many of the boys would find it difficult to reach the required staudard this year for matrieulation. "Since the last meeting there has unfortunately been very little school owing to the prevailing epidemic," he said. "The school was hurriedly closed two days before Easter. Since then homework has been set and will continue to be set until the school reopens. Pupils have been asked to send in the work regularly, but I must say I am extrernely disappointed by the poor response shown by most classes. Many boys even who hope to sit matrieulation this year have so far sent in no work for correetion. The backwardness of these boys must be obviojis and it is hard to see how they can reach the required staudard by the end of the year." Sinee Mr. Foster made this report, the school has reopened*
