APPEAL TO YOUNG NEW ZEALANDERS.

"In view of the piesent Government poliey of State control of rinance and industry, it is necessary for all those opposing that policy to unite in a determined effort to preserve the British system of free enterprise, reasonable competition and equality of opportunity," runa '& statement issued by the. recently-formed Young New Zealanders' Association in the course of an appeal to the public to take heed or present-day happenings in the Dominion as a r-esult of legislation passed by the Government during the past session of Parliament. The contention is advanced that it is the responsibility of the youngei1 men in particular carefully to watch political developments in their relationship to the future prosperity of the country. "The policy of the associaticm jn all matters will be directed toward the preservation of the liberty of the individual and regulated on the principle that the State is for the people and not the people for the State," the statement adds. "The association will be entirely independent of all political parties, but will encourage its members as individuals to assist the National party in building ;an organisation which will make possible a united effort to provide a sound and practical alternative to the programme of the present Government. The whole general position in this country to-day is fraught with danger. Spending on armaments abroad is causing in all countries a temporaxy prosperity of a 'boom' nature. We therefore have an external structure based on an unsound condition, and super-imposed upon this an internal structure based upon a borrow and boom poliey."
