Make* Plants increase Five -fold A remarkable fertiliser which, it xs' claimed, induces plants to grow to tive times' their ordinary size has been perfected by Dr, «J oseph Sellei, chief medical offieer of the Hungarian State Railways. The fertiliser, which is a f orm of dye, is diluted in water and poured over the sped after it has been planted. Every vipecies of plant has a diflereut .dose. "An overdose wili produce a midget plant with otherwise healthy properties. Several years' experiments, it is stated, have shown that not only do the plants grow five times as big when tiourished with the fertiliser, but they mature much more quickly than is ueual. Explaining his discoVery, Dr. Cellei, who is a dermatologist, stated: "We know that certain dyes speed up the healing process of wounds. Eour years ngo I first thought of applying such dyes to plants in order to make them react more easily to the raye of the sun. At last I found a suitable dye. I made it xnto a powder— it is very eheap to produce — and called it photosensin. '/The experiments have proved very gratifying indeed. Reports reeeived from large eatates have been remarkable.
