NAMES OF WARDS
Calling Them After Prominent Doctors SUGGESTION TO BOARD To commemorate the serviees of .wellknown doctors who have given ihany years of valuable work at tbe Napier Hospital, a suggestion has been -made that the new wards should be named after them. , A recommendation was made by the medical superintendent, Dr. J. J. Foley, that tbe two new wards should be named Ltaby and Gilray, in bonour of the Jate Dr- J. P. Leahy and ■ Dr. T. Gilray, tbe latter having recently, retired as a "member of tbe honorary staff. The late.Dr,. Leahy, also Dr. Gilray, were both superintendents of tbe Napier Hospital. Mr C. 0. Morse considered that" this was a worthy suggestion, but be poinfc- , ed out tbat oue oi' tho wards was on tbe site of tbe fonner Kobjobus Ward, and it liad lieen tbe practice of tbe board . to rename the wards as tbey were pre- ; vious to rehabilitation. A fui'thej* suggestion was made by ; Dr. J. Allan Berry, who considered ! that the youn&er generation was apt [ to forget tbe serviees of Dr. T. C. ; Moore, who was one of tbe pioneers oi surgery in Napier and in Now X ea land generally. It would be a fitting bonour to a great man to commomorate - Dr. Moore's name, said Dr. Berry. The matter was deferred in the meanl ,time.
