At the third attempt, the previous ascents being abandoned owing to dangerous conditions, the Duke of Windsor, aceompanied by an experienced guide, climbed tbe 5800-feet peak Mt. Schaffbert in 165 minutes. The mountain is noted for deep crevices and high praeipices". Even in summer-time when the conditions are favourable, good monntaineers require at least three hours to xeach th© summit.
