Sir George Elliot, whose extensive financiai connections have kept him in close assQciation with the commercial affairg of the Dominion for 30 or 40 years, leavee New Zealand next month for Sydney on ' the first stage of an . extensive tour abroad. * . Eor 17 years he was a member of the Bank of New Zealand direetorate, in- i cluding ten years as chairman. Eecent changes ih the direetorate released him

from his principal Dominion tie. He informed a xeporter that he has con.siderable financiai ties outside New ! Zealand, and purposee visiting East and South Africa and would later make his headquarters in Loadon. He would investigate an appointment which h'ad fcean offered him and necessitated visiting other countries. The length of his absence would be determined by circumstances as they arose. Meanwhile he had resigned his New Zealand direetorships, including the South British Insurance, the Auckland Gas Co„ 'Wilsons Portland Cement, Milne and Choyce, Leyland O'Brien and others.
