Society Abandons Function This Year NO SUITABLE HALL Inability to book tbe Forester*' Hall at a time to correspond with the altered dates for the schools' term holidays in May has forced the executive of the Napier Competitions l Society to aban don this year's instrumental, vocal and dancing competitions. AU competitora are to receive a circular letter from the society explaining the position! and entrance money is to be refunded. The competitions were to have been held last Easter, but were postponed because of the epidemic of inf aptil* paralysis. The society then decided to hold the festival during the last week of the school term holidays, which usually begin on May 12 and end on May 31. Because of the loss of school time thrpugh the epidemic, however, it has been decided to shorten the term; holidays, and they will now be from May 12 tq May 24, The Competitions Society is unable to book Foresters* Hftil (the only suitable hall in Napier for the purpose) for the last week of th* holidays, However, for which reaspn it has been decided to abandon the feftival altogether this year. Since the Mayor, Mr C. O. Morse, ha* announced that a municipal theatre will be ready by next Easter, the society i« going to make a big endeav'oiir ta *ttract large entries for next Easter'* festival.
