SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Hawke's Bay Arrangements The Napier schools and those in certain other districts reopened yesterday with, in most cases, normal and quite satisfactory attendances. The schools in the Hastings district will not, however, reopen in the meantime. First term holidays, which will now fall due next month, will be curtailed a week, and schools in Hawke's Bay will be closed from May 13 to May 24, instead of to May 31, as would otherwise have been the case. Coronation Day, May 12, is also at the disposal of the Hawke's Bay Education Board for any function it may wish to l'.pld on that date.
