Mr Preston-Thomas, of Hastings, is at present aqcompanying Mr C. Higginson, of Waikanae, on a, motor tour of the North Island- « Mr H. S. Feast has beea appointed deputy town clerk in Gh.ristchurch in succession to Mr L F. James, who recently reaigued. Mr A. P. Sheehun has been appointod secretary of tlie Napier Watersiders' Unicn to succeed the late Mr H L. Brown, whose death ocourred a few months ago. Mr Gordon Cliristie, of Christie and Bons, Ltd., Hastinis, will leave for Auckland within the next few days to join the Aorangi for San Francisco, Mr Ohristie's visit to the United States will extend over a period of four or five months and is being. made iu tbe interests of liis firrn, Mr Fred Stanley, son of Mr W. Stanley, of Clifton, is making a good reeovery in Napier Hospital from a fall from the loft of a Hastings bakehquse. He fell 17 feet and landed on h.is head. At first it was /thought that severe concnssion was the only injury but an X-ray examination has revealed % slight fracture of ihe skull.
