LEMON AND BLUE COLOUR SCHEME CHOSEN
BUTLER— MEADS WEDDING
The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Luke's Oliurch, Havelock North, oi Bdna May, daughter of Mr and Mrs yj. H. Meads, Te Aute road, Havelock Nortli, and Ray, sou of Mr and Mrs T. Butler, also of Te Aute; road, Havelock North. The Rev. Mr Weymouth ofiiciated at the ceremony and Major Oldharn presided at the organ, playing the wedding marches and tlie hymn "O Perfect Love/' Tlie bride, ' who was given away by her l'ather, wore a gown of wliite angelskin lace mounted on ivory satin. The neckline was cowled in front and caught withj a spray of orange blossom, and tiny covered buttons finislied the back. The sleeves were long and tight and the , trained skirt had inset godets of knife-pleated georgette. Slio wore satin shoes and her veil tvas of embroidered tulle. The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Reid*(chief) and Miss Eileen Anderson, who wore gowns of ehibossed georgette in lemon and blue respectively. Their gowns were fasl'iioned alike with a square neckline in front caught with diamante clasps and the cowled back trimmed with silver flowers. The skirt was flared with inset pleated godets and at the waist was a wide silver lame belt with a large round silver, bqckle. Each maid wore silver shoes and a iialo *of silver leaves. Little Shirley Meads, the bride' s sister, was a dainty flowcrgirl in her Victorian gown of blue embossed georgette with a finely pleated cape collar and silver sash. Slie wore blue forget-me-nots in her liair. Mr Nigel Smith was bcst in'an and Mr Laurie Meads', cousin of the bride. tb« groomsman.About 80 guests were entertained at the reception in the Tcwn Board Hall where the tables were decorated In blue and lemon. In the centre of-the bridal table stood the three-tiered wedding cake whieh had been made by the bride's mother and beautifully ieed by Mrs G. Hook. The usual loasts were honoured and after the wedding breakfast dancihg to music played by McKay's orchestra was cnjoyed by everyone. .Mr and Mrs C. H. Meads received the guesta, the latter wearing a frcck of floral georgette in black, lemon and blue. Her hat was black and slie earried a posy of autumn tints. Mrs T. Butler, the bridegroom V mother, wore a navy blue ensemble with navy accessories and carried - » posy in shades of red, both tliis and the posy carried by Mrs Meads were made by Messrs Simmonds. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeynioon the bride travelled in a navy tailored costunie worn witli a blouse of white georgette and a. navy hat. • . Among the wedding guests were Mr and Mrs J. Jones, of. Clive, and Mrs Alderman, grandmother of the bride.
