The Rev. R. Godfrey, formerly ATchdeacon of Southern Melanesia, h'aa been instituted as vicar of Aramoho. Wanganui. Mr Roy White, who has been on tbe staff of tbe Union Bank of Australia at Hastings for the past nine years, left during the week-end on traqsi'er to the New Plymouth branch. Mr Coiourne -Wright, who is on the staff of the Hastings braneh of the Natkmal Bank, has received notice of his trarisfer to Maungataroto, North Auckland, and leaves for his new position about the end of the weekMr Yvalter George Slater, Napier'# oidest eitizen, celebrated his 9lst. birthday yesterday. Sailing from England in January, 1860, he came to Hawke's Bay as a boy and obtained a position on Okawa Station. Later he was apprenticed to a carpenter, but gave .up this trade in favour of storekeeping. He is believed to be the last surviving member of the Hawke's Bay Militia. Althougfh now an old man, he still enjoy s good health. Squadron-Leader the Rev. A. G. Kayll, R.A.F., who has beeh visiting his parents, the Rev. Canon and Mrs J. L. A. Kayll, of Waihi, has returned to England. Squadron-Leader Kayll, an Old Boy of Auckland Grammar School and Hamilton High School, has for the last three years been stationed at' Hinaidi, the Royal Air Force station in Iraq. Canon Kayll many years ago was curate at St. Matthew'a Church, Hastings.
