UNITED TENNIS CLUBS HAVE JOLLY DANCE
As a wind-up to a most successful season, the United , Tennis Association held a. dance in the Barrie Studio last Thursday evening, where a large number of members and friends attended. Huring the course of the evening, the chairman of the executive, Mr W. E. Smith, took the opportunity of presenting the trophies and cup to the winners of .the Championship meeting held at Easter. Mr Smith stated that the association had only been ia existeoice for five months, and with- the cocperation of the dilferent clubs that had f ormed it, had made a most * successful start, and looked proinising lor next season. The formation of this association, and the arranging of the inter-club matches had iniproved the temiis of everyone, and the executive felt proud that their efforts had not been m vain. Mrs Smith then made the presentation to the following: — junior men, singles: It. Kitt • junior ladies: Miss It. Wright; seuior men, singles: E. Haggerty ; senior ladies : Mrs Moore; men's Houbles : E. Haggerty. and G. Inglis; ladies doubles : Mrs Moore and Miss M. Archibald; combined doubles: Mrs Moore and J. Lofe : jnter-club cup : Haumoana. The music was . supplied by Gordon itedward's Orcheetra and Mr O. Jonson made a capable M.Q. Extras were played by Miss E. Smith. Among those present were: Mrs W. E. Smith, navy horal frock with threequarter navy coat; Miss A. Wilkie, blue georgette with silver lace godet? in skirt; Miss E. Smith, leaf green taffeta having a ruffled hem; Miss J. Batt, beige floral frock; Mrs J. Caves, marina blue matt crepe ; Miss J . Hillon, midnight blue lace; silver flowers on neck line ; Mrs Simmousen, wliite georgette; Miss It. Wright, plaid taf-fet-a; Miss C. Dreary, salmon pink georgette ; Miss G. Giles, gipsy goldshimmer satin with draped sleeves; Miss L. Thompson, brown check; Miss M. Crawford, red georgette, Miss B. Alexander, pink georgette, slit. sleeves lined with lame ; Miss I. DesForges, black velvet; Mi6s J. Barden, mulberry velvet, full sleeves having fur shoulder trimming ; Miss J. Heyward, pink lace ; Miss lt. Templeton, pink chiffon gold girdle ; Miss Bnuth, dusky pink crepe ; Mrs Fowler, red georgette; Miss Burden, pink taffeta tiered frills on skirt j Miss Ward, red and black tunic frock; Miss M. Harding,..white satin, red roses on neck; Mrs Lowe, blue taffeta net frills on sleeves ; Miss E. Carter, waterwave green taffeta; Miss E. Geake. green lace; Miss Wright, pink satin; Miss L. Marsli, Jemon organdie; Miss E. Crawford, boral taffeta in blue, red and white; and many others The Monte Cario competition went to Miss N. Carter and Mr E. Birch.
