Newspaper Office Destroyed

WAIRARAPA, April 8. The , building and plant of the Wairarapa Standard, Greytown, were destroyed . by fire recently. Owing to a breakdbwn of the firebell the alarm was not given until the fire had a strong hold, and although the brigade did good .work it was unable to save th© building or plant. The frames, cases and Itype were all destroyed. The cause of the outbreak is not known. Mr R. G. Vile, editor and proprietor of the newspaper, was attending a farewell to the Rev. C. H. Isaacson, vicar of Greytown, when he wfis told the building was on fire. The insurances were £100 on the plant and £400 on the building.
