WAIHOA, This Day. It was definitely ascertained late on Fiday tliat the Wairoa scliools will re-open on Monday. Bowling, A record is claimed to have been established on the Wairoa bowling green during the course of a friendly game on Wednesday. A rink composed of Ebbett, Sheehan and Galbraith failed to score until the thirteenth head against a rink -composed of Morrissey, Osler and Clark. Baskotball. On Friday afternoo-n advice was reeeived that the name of Miss Joyce Unwin, of Frasertown, has been added to the supplementary hst of New Zealand players for the Dominion repregentative baskethall side which it is hoped may visit Australia this year. Miss Unwin is ' a member of the Redwing Baskethall Club, and her selection is a great honour to Wairoa. Sohool Accommodafion, In connection with the requests hiade from time to time, a conference was held between Mr G. A. Maddison, chairman of the Hawke's Bay Education Board, Messrs O. R. Sainsbury and Cuthbertson, members of the board, and a delegation froni the local High School comifiittee comprising Messrs R. de B. Hill, the chairman, and R. W. Goodley, A. M. Ashburn, J. Alexander and Dr E. B. jardme. The school's requirements were fully set forth in regard to the iufant deparfcment, stafi; rooin and head niasfcer's office, also the need for a manual training school ' building, the board chairman statiug that Ihe latter was now first on the list. Application was made for the installation of electric light for the wliole school. An improved aceo-mmodation for the secondaVy pupils was also asked for, and the board chairman stated that in the near future entirely separate high scshool buildr ings would have to be erected. Mr Hill voiced the thanks of his committee to the visitors, who then jnspected tlie school buildings and grounds.
