WRITER LOATHES WRITING
Some little wbile ago Mr Cecil Roberts — wbo writes so charmingly of tbe Englisb country-side said tbat lie imagined many writers lived in tbe country, so tbat they could find exsuscs — in tbe garden, for instance — for not sitting at tbeir desks and working. Speaking at tbe Sunday Times Book Exbibition in London reeently, be said tbat be was now convinced tbat tbe country was altogetber too distracting for writers. Strange as it may seem, I bate writing; I loathe it. and I do every mortal tbing I can in order to avoid sitting down to my desk. " "I am so shy of writing tbat tbe only place in which I can write is in £ed, and my hou'sekeeper is instructed, wben sbe brings me my morning cup of tea> to take my trousers away and bring me a fountain pen."
