FARMERS' UNION
Waimarama Branch . Meets A. meeting of the Waimarama branch of the New Zealand Farmers' TJnion, presided over . by Mr R. K. Campbell, was held at Mrs W. van Asch's residence, Craggy Range, on Tuesday evening. The meeting was. well attended", there being over .25 local members present. . The* provincial president, Mr O. REdgecombe, came specially from Hatuma. to attend and gave an interesting address on the history and achievements of the union. On the motion of the chairman a vote of thanks was accorded him which was carried by acclamatiori. ' An address was also given by Mr P. C. Cope, of the Wellington Farmers' Union Mutual Society, in conneetion with, Farmers' Mutual Insurance, for which' he was also accorded a hearty vote of thanks. • . ' ■ * It was decided , to , enter two teams to compete for the annual • challeuge shield in the inter-provincial farmers' union shooting match which - is heirig held on April 17. Gold .medals will be presented to the winning team and one to the highest scorer oiitside the -winning tea'm-. , . ; ■ A committee was set up in conneetion ' with the membership campaign which is . being conducted througho.it the Dominion. • A resolution was passed supporting a remit which emanated from the Tukituki branch suggestirig the establishrnerit of a federation of all prim.ary producer.s' associations. The chairman, in referring to the Waimarama branch's request to the Hawke's Bay. County Council for a water, trough in the "driving yard at Kahauranaki, informed the meeting that klr Palmer gave his assurance that it would be done immediately.
