MR H. S. MOSS HONOURED
Jockey Club Presentation POPUL'AR SEGRETARY Mr " H. S. Moss, the retiring secretary of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club, was the recipient last evening of a presentatiori from the members of.the club, as well as of orie from the stewards and members of " the management committee. There were present at the private -gathefing about 20 people, incliiding representatives of the District Committee and other racing clubs. In making Mr Moss a gift of a very substantial cheque as a token of the appreciatidn of the riiembers of ' the club, Mr G. D. Beatson, president, expressed apprecjation of the conscientious service that. he had given during the 21 years he had- held the office of secretary. Mr Beatson paid tribute to the fine character and the popularity of Mr Moss, who had' enjoyed the confidence- and respect of all concerned ,with the sport in this district. .Messrs J. S. McLeod, F. B. Kelly and Geo. Ebbett, viee-presidents of the club, Mr T. H. Lowry and Mr- C. E. Twist, representing the District Com-. mittee, endorsqd the ■ president' s remarks and eulogised the fine work. and service given by Mr Moss. * During the evening a further presentation:- of a silver rose-bowl was also made to Mr Moss as a personal gift from the members of the management committee. x Officially Mr Moss was to relinquish office at the end of. last m 011th, but he is continuing in office until next Monday, when it is expected that the new-ly-appoirited secretary, Mr Wishart will assume dutv.
