PARTY TO CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING OF MR. & MRS. F. MARTIN
A surprise party -was taken to the home of Mr and Mrs Pred Martin, Gascoigne street, Hastings, on April 3, to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding. A happy time was spent at cards, the winners being Mrs Easaw and Mrs Ashford, and Mr Bftshford and Mr Everett. The consolation prizes wero won by Mrs Pearce and Mr fchnith. Musieal items were given on the uccoydion by Mr M. Jellings and Mr Woods, and several mouth orgau solos, accompanied on the piano by Miss. Martin. The happy couple were presented with a lovely posy, the gift of Mr and Mrs Hieks^
Supper was later sefved in the dimng room which was decorated with bowls of flowers and ferns. The wedding eake was cut and toasts honoured, Many beautiful p.resents were reeeived. Mr Palmer, on behalf of friends, presented them with a bronze ornatnent. "For They are Jolly Good Fellovvs," was sung, and before the guests left for their homes all sang "Auli Lang Syne. ' ' The guests were: Mrs Maney, Mrs A. Jillings, Mr and Mrs J. Smith, Mr and Mrs J. McDonald, Mr and Mrs C. Palmer, Mrs Bogus, Mr and Mrs B. Stockham, Mr and Mrs C. McLeod, Mr B. Watson, Mr Woods, Mr E. Brenchley, Mr and Mrs B. Ball, Mr L. Bashford, Mrs Easaw, Mrs Ashford, Mr H. Everett, Mr and Mrs L. Pearce, Mr Asford, Mr H. O'Connor, Mr O, McIieod, Mr M. Jillings and Master A. Easaw, Misses J. Platt, M. Bashford, V. Pearce, N. Easaw, J. Martin, P. Martin, I. McLeod, B. McLeod, and Miss Martin.
