A large nnmber of applications were referred back to the centres because of unsatisfactory surveyors', judges' and watches' test certihcates. These included the half-mile record of lmin. 53 4-5sec. by V. P. Boot at Christchurch on February 27, the 100 yards women's record of 11 l-5sec. by Miss L Campbell at Hamilton on the same date, and the pole vault record of 11ft. 6iin. by J. H. Opie, Timaru, on February 6. The lastnamed was also stated to be a member of a club not yet affiliated. , Applications covering women's javelin and discus throws, shot putt, and 90 yards hurdles were declined owing to the absence of provision in the assoeiation 's rules for records in these events. A move is being made to have them ineluded in the list.
