ers' performances were granted at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Assoeiation last night:—New Zealand records: Three miles, 14.11 3-5, K. Murakoso (Japan), Mareb 3, 1987, at Auckland. 80 yds. hurdles (women's), 12, Miss Rona Tong, Marcb 13, 1937, at Auckland. 440 hurdles, 55 3-5, A. T. Anderson, March 12, 1937, at Auckland. 220 hurdles, 25 1-5, E. P» Newburgh, March 12, 1937, at Auckland. 220 hurdles, 24 3-5, P. T. Bowie, March 13, 1937, at Auckland. _ Women's long jump, 17ft. 8in., Miss ^ D. Straclian, March 20, 1937, at Christchurck. Women's high jump, 4ft. 11 l-8in., Miss B. Forbes, March 6, 1937, at Dunedin. Two miles, 9.19 4-5, ^ K. Murakoso, March 16, 1937, t Napier. 100 yards, 9 4-5, W. J. Fitzsimmons, February 27, 1937, at Napier. ^ Two miles walk, 13 £7 3-5, Ian Driscoll, March 16, 1937, at Napier. Best New Zealanders' performances: Discus throw, 143ft. 31in., A. A. Cameron. Februarv 27, 1937,. at Dunedin.

Hammer throw, 155ft. 61in., M. R. Spillane, February 27, 1937, at Dunedin. The performance of the Japanese athlete, K. Togami, in the hop, step, and •jump at Christchurch on February 27, 51ft. lin., was not recognised as a New Zealand record because the regulation requiring the use of a steel measuring tape had not been qomplied with. A large nnmber of applications were referred back to the centres because of unsatisfactory surveyors', judges' and watches' test certihcates. These included the half-mile record of lmin. 53 4-5sec. by V. P. Boot at Christchurch on February 27, the 100 yards women's record of 11 l-5sec. by Miss L Campbell at Hamilton on the same date, and the pole vault record of 11ft. 6iin. by J. H. Opie, Timaru, on February 6. The lastnamed was also stated to be a member of a club not yet affiliated. , Applications covering women's javelin and discus throws, shot putt, and 90 yards hurdles were declined owing to the absence of provision in the assoeiation 's rules for records in these events. A move is being made to have them ineluded in the list.
