(By Teleeraph—

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Four new cases of infantile paralysis were reported to the Health Department to-day. . Tho Medical Officer of Health, Dr J. Boyd, said he did not think there was any cause for undue alarm and that in the light of past experience there should be a substantial improvement within the next two weeks. The outbreak was petering out, he added, and such spasmodic waves as the present one were largely due to the hot spell. With the approach of colder weather, there were grounds for a more optimistic outlook. The four cases reported to-day are » girl aged 2£ from Woolston, a boy aged 12 from Sydenham, a boy aged 11 frqpi New Brighton, and a girl aged 7 from Linwood. The Woolston girl and the Sydenham boy have been in the Christchurch Hospitai for some time and have just been diagnosed as positive cases.
