The appointment of Mr David Clark as deputy registrar of births' an.d deaths of Maoris at Wairoa has been gazetted. The Hon. W. E. Barnafd, M.P., returned to Napier last evening from a trip to the South Island. Mr L. J". Ibbotsson, of Sherenden, is spending a holiday at Tikurangi, North Auckland, where he is the guest of the Rev, C. and Mrs Brierley. Mr H. Brusey, Lower Hutt, who has been spending a holiday in Napier^ and renewing old friendships, has returned home. Dr F. S. Maclean, medical officer of health for Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa, is at present visiting Hastings and Napier. Mr J. T. Bryant, of Matangi, a director of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, Ltd., has left on a trip to England and Europe. Mr. N. J. C. Thacker, exchange clerk in the post offiee at Tokomaru Bay, has received notice of his transfer to tbe Napier office. Mr Humphrey Bayly, who recently purchased "Mataua," originally part of "Springhill," Wairoa, from the Goulter Estate, will shortly take up his residence there. The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, and Mrs Holland will attend the Anglican General Synod which begins at Hamilton to-morrow. Constable T. A. Chalmers, who for the past 14 months has been stationed with the detective branch at the Napier Police Station, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington. His appointment is to the detective branch in Wellington, and he will leave shortly for his new station. The Rev. T. Coatsworth. who will leave Rangiora on April 13 to taka charge of the Woodville Methodist' circuit, ended liis three-years' ministry in Rangiora with farewell services on Sunday. The Rev.' H, Ryan, of Riccarton will suceeed Mr Chatsworth at" Rangiora. Mr. W. H. Kerridge, M.A., Mus. Bac., has been appointed by Trinity College of Music, London, to visit tho North Island this year, and Mr Anderson Tyrer, F.R.C.M., is to be the examiner for the South Island. Mr Kerridge ia to examine iu all subjects. Mr Tyrer is to examine at the Wellington centre for the July examinations only, before proceedin*? to Christchurch for tke South Island tour. Mr Ray' Williams, former assistantengineer to the Napier Harbour Board, who is leaving shortly for South Africa, will be farewelled to-night by members of the Napier Aero Club, of which he is a foundation memher. Mr Williams. who is also a niember of the executive of the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club, is a pilot, and has done valuable work, for aviation in tlie distriet.
