MISSIONARY AFTERNOON
At Guild of Fellowship The members of St. Matthew's, Guild ' of .Fellowship held .their nionthly missionary af ternoOn at yesterday 's meeting and the speaker was Miss ' F. Davis? of Napier. Deaconess Holmes opened the meeting and af terwards the president, Mrs. Barton Hobbs, introduced Miss Davis to the members. ■' Miss Davis was. for 20 years engaged in missionary work at Tokomaru Bay and deseribed most interestingly the gi'owth of the work sihce its origin by j JSamuel Marsden up to the present time. i The speaker deseribed the mission 1 • houses in the Diocese of Wniapu and told how the work among -the Maoris extends from these throughout the whole district. . A pretty floral posy was presented to Miss Davis, who was thanked for her interesting talk, and posi.es were also presented to Mrs Porter and Mrs Upchurch,. old members of the Guild of Fellowship who celebrate their birthdays this week. Tea was served by the hostesses. Mrs C. Mortimer-Jones . and Mrs D. W. , Hursthouse and afterwards the members made.bandag.es fot mission work. - It was decided during' the afternoon to entertain the members of the Parkvale and Mahora Guilds at the meeting on April 20 and a bright programme is being arranged.
