WELLINGTON^ Lart Night. A close season. for opossum trapping aud an increase in the maximum penalty for offences against the regulations were requested by a ddputatipa frbm the Wellington Accljmatisation Society which waited on Hon. W, E, Pkrry to-dny. The deputation pointed out that the industry had grown in importance from the revenue viewpoint, but the number of skins taken last year showed a rbig drop, Finep for poaching and other breaches had not acted as a deterrent. The Minister agreed to give the question eerious consideration.
