£1000 Already Received in Donations REAPY^R^PONSE

WELLINGTON, Laat Night. The acting Prime Minister announced to-night that over £1000 had already been received in donations for the King: George V memorial fuod for the per' manent cstablishment of children B health camps. This amovnt is in addition to the contribution of £25,000 with which the Government ppened ihe liet. "It ig extremely grhtifying that in spite of the fact that the Lasbcr hcli* days had intervened since the prime Minister opened his appeal over £1000 has already been collected,' ' said Mr. Fraser. "Mr. Savage's address has been warmly commended throughout the Dominion and I am confident when the local authorities, Press and other bodies commence the work of organising their appeals the publio will readily respond. I am sure all will hope that our fund will provide a fitting memorial to his late Majesty who always had the welfare of tho children very close at heart. " Mr. Fraser nlentioned that some of the notable contributions already received included £500 from the Punediu gavings Bank, £250 from Sir Robert Anderson, £100 from Lady Anderson, £50 frpm i>r, Hay (Dunedin) and £100 from the New i5ealandrLabour Party Conferen.ce. It was expected thnt cpntributions would bo announced shortly from local bodies whose donations would be validated at the next session of Parliament. Several Mayors ot cities and boroughs had already oft'ered to do eveofhing in thoir power to lur tlier the appeal.
