Dr. Budd stated that he had been away on hoiiday at the time of admiasion, but he understood that Mr Fogarty was taking precautionary measures. ,The schools be-tween Whangaparaoa and Ruakokore had been closed. It was decided to communicate wit-h the education authorities . inquiring whether the local schools should be closed, and to take steps to , prevent tangis on the Coast. Mucfi alarm was felt at the bringjing of a case from such a distauce to Opotiki in which district, the disease had been entirely absent.
