Wairoa Boy Injured. A Maori lad named Edward Hawkens, aged 10 years, son of Mr Ned Hawkens, Wairoa, was found on Saturday night lying unconseious on the main highway near Waihua, by a motorist travelling between Napier and Wairoa. He was fcaken to the Wairoa Hospital, vrhere he was fcflmd to be suffering froui a fractured skuil and other nrjuries. His condition is considered seriousRecord Number in Hospital. The number of patients admitted to the Wairoa Hospital during the year just ended was a reqord— 821. The average occupied beds i:was 30 for the. last bhree quarters, a long way ahead of the number for which pro\Lion Irii- hither to been made.
Exhibition Gorf. In spite of the ratiuT iuclement weather at the week-end, the exhibition golf match played at Wairoa by Wally Allbon and tliree of the Wairoa players, Messrs A. E. Smith, T. *E. Crawford and J. W. Benson, drew" some of the more ardent supportere of the game. Those who wero fortnnate enough to witness the match were treated to some good golf, Allbon ;s drives> which never wavered from the line, being an outstanding feature of the play. In most cases it was necessary to get birdies to win holes, and a number of these were recorded in each player's eard. Allbon demonstrated his mastery of the gamo in the wonderful control he showed over all shots. It was easy to imagine him as the runner-up in the New Zealand proi'essional autumn cliampiowsliips.
