1 ' t Luggers Attempted to Escape LAW EXPLAINED T0 THEIV (Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) DARWIN, April 6. It ig reveajed that the patrol boai Larrakia, whieh wamed off 17 Japanese luggers yesterday, had to fire several bursts from its machine-gun to stop six luggers which were attempting to escape. The Larrakia 'q crew wero exajnlning 11 of the luggers when six others appeared. Immediatey they sighted the Larrakia they attempted to escape to the open sea, but the greater speed of the patrol boat resulted in their rapid overhaul. Thq master of the Larrakia oxplained to the Japanese eaptains the Australian law against landings on the , CQa'3tline.
