REGENT THEATRE
"THREE MEN ON A HORSE" 4 4 Three Men on a Horse," the First National nonsense-film, opens at the Regent to-morrow. The drama of the meek little rhym'ster who makes a precarious living by writing greeting card verses — and has an ymeanny f aculty of picking winners of ■ horse raees, altliough he never bets on one — is even more laugh-provoking on the screen than on the stage. The play is still going strong on Broadway though well in its second year — and seven road companies are touring in it in the States — and one in Australia. "Three Men on a Horse" features those twe popular purveyors of good cheer — Frank McHugh and Joan Blondell. ^ McHugh is priceless as the timid, jingle-writing Erwin (pronounced Oiwin) and Joan is at her cleverest as Mabel, the hardboiled ex-chorua girl whose roughneck boy-friend places her a|S body-guard of Oiwin after he has been made an unwilling. prisoner. Last Time to See Jack Buchanan. The Jack Buchanan — Elsie Randolph comedy, "This '11 Make You Wliistle," concludes at the Regent to-night. On® of the best of this pair's offerings, it is-; littingly introduced by a George Wallace comedy, a Mar.ch of Time short. and other "good fare. 4,lt Isn't Done." A coming attraction to the Regent is 4It Isn't. Dorie" . starring Ceeil Kelleway, a eomedian popular with many Hawko's Bay theatre-goers. This is the first Australian pictnre with .an all-star cast. Others taking part include Shirley Ann Richards, Frank Harvey and. John Longderi. The name of the. pictnre may be new to. patrons ; that is because the picture is having its New Zealand premiere at the Regent, Hastings.
