Mrs W. J. Woods, of Wellington, ©xperienced a" cruel stroke of misfortune the other morning when the Royal Divorco gelding Sansfoy broke his leg on the Hastings track and had to bo destroyed. When he first came to Hastings he was in anything but good order, and it took trainer W. H. Corlett some months to get him right. Then in a very short period he won four races, as well as filling minor places, with every good prospect of adding substantially to his earningsIt has already been intimated that Mr and Mrs T. H. Lowry and Mr J. S. McLeod have donated the Gold Cup to be run for at Hastings on the occasiorr of the H.B. Jockey Club's Jubilee meeting. Now I learn that the two vice-presidents, Messrs F.
