DANNEVIRKE, This day. " The water supply failed unexpectedly yesterday in parts of the borough owing to some 10 feet of the race which feeds the water to the reservoir giving way, allowing the supply to run wild. Before the damage fo the nace became known the water in the reservoir had been greatly diminished and, in some places in the higher levels, water was completely cut off some hours until the damage to the race was repaired and the supply restored. Much inconvenience was caused, the public hospital being one place affected. Here, after all preparations had been made for an operation on a patient, it had to be postponed. Water was carted in milk cans from the Mangatera stream to enable the hospital to carry on.
