WAIPUKURAU THEATRE
"Barbary Coast" To-night The story of "Barbary Coast" tonight at the . Waipukurau Theatre was written about the lives of those dauntless adventurers who crossed the plains to find gold and stayed to found an empire. Miriam Hopkins and Joel McCrea portray the lovers who struggie for their romantic ideals in a land where lawless men ran riot. It is a wonderful pieture of the Barbary Coast, which emerged triumphant from the mire of hopelessness, where printing presses of newspapers were smashed because they dared to print the truth, and avenging vigilantes took the law into- their own liands. For the sinister role of Chamalis, Samuel Goldwyn secured Edward G. Robinson. He is said to give the entire film a motivation of hope, greed, and excitement that should leave the audience feeling that "Barbary Coast" is one of the most colourful and enjoyable filuis it has had the pleasure of witnessing. On the same programme is Walt Disney's latest Mickey Mouse cartoon in technicolour, entitled " Mickey 's Fire Brigade," and "Mareh of Time," No. 7. "Captain Blood." Rafael Sabatini's great adventure story, "Captain Blood," comes to the Waipukurau Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday next. Reservations at Hawke's, 'phone 282.
