DANNEVIRKE CLUB

Autumn Meeting Held at Waipukurau GOOD ATTENDANCE The Dannevirke Racing Club held its autumn meeting on the Waipukurau club 's course to-day in overcast and threatening weather. There was a very satisfactory attendance of the public, who were trOated to a splendid after* noon 'a sport. Very satisfactory fields competed and the course was in good order. Interest was added to the meeting by the appearance of a number of well-known horsemen who were engaged at the major meetings held at Easter. Mr A. V, O'Brien, Wellington, was in .the judge's box, and Mr W. Price was at the starting lever. The arxanga* ments for the day were highly satisfactory to the auccess, of the meeting. The single place machine was in operation on the totalisator. Results: — TUKITUKI HIGHWEIGHT Of £80; ;one mile and distance. 2 MARCHING SONG, Mr H. H. Anderson) 3 Also started: 7 Tres Sec 9.12, 1 Count Willonyx 9.8, 6 Dusky Crown 9.2, 3 Ythan 9.2, 8 Riogjiail 9.0. Won by three-quarters of a length, third back a head. Time, 1.59 4-5. Breaking away in a eplendid line from the barrier, Ythan was first to show . out, but after they had settled down going out of the straight, Tres Sec had gone through to the front, leading from Umpire, Iddo, Marching Song and Dusky Crown. Moving down the back there was little change among the leaders, with Rioghail on the outside at the foot of the hill. Umpire had charge from Dusky Crown, who had run up from Tres Sec and Marching Song. The' latter, with a smart run, was soon into second position, to be juet in behind Umpire as they entered the straight, from Count Willonyx, Tres Sec and Iddo. In the race to the post, Marching Song came through to win by "threequarters of a length from Iddo, who just beat Umpire by a head for second place. Tres Sec was fourth, and then came Count Willonyx. MAIDEN RACE. Of £70; 6 furlpngs. 4 PARRY. — Mr W,. J. Wood's b.g. 4yrs, by Lord Quex — Molong 8.7 (R. Marsh) I 2 Asset — Mr D. A. Preston 's b.f. 3 yrs 8.7 (J. Wai8*1) 2 1 King's Hope— -Mr J. H. McNiven's ch.g. 4yrs, 8.7 (S. Anderson) 3 Also started: 3 Olavercourt 8.7. Won by two lengths; third back three lengths. Time, 1.16. Parry was first to show ou from R-ing's Hope, with both Asset and Clavercourt together. As they ran across the top to the hom© turn, Asset went up almost alongsido of Parry from King's Hope, with ClavercouH still in the rear. There was no change in the order into the straight, and rpnning to the front Parry, on the outside, drew away to win comfortahly by two lengths from Asselb, whq was three lengths in froqt of the favourite, King's Hppe.
