DAVIS CUP PROSPECTS
English Despondei\cy Is Premature (Received 3, 8.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 2. Fred Perry in an aTticle in "Colliers" states that the TJnited States have the best chance sinee 1927 to regain the Davis Cup, but Australia and Germany are in the best position because they have already selected a No, 2 man. "Experts agree that Australia, the Uuited States and Germany are the poly real conteuders," states Perry, "but I think they are eliminating England too quickly. It is possible that a No. 2 man will pop up and completely ohanga the English outlook. It cnust be remembered that I am onjy another player who lost the shuffle in 1930, hut suddenly mastered a rising ball and achieved coufidence. It is asserted that I let England down and left hor no chance of winning the Cup. I beg to disagree and think that this crepe is I premature."
