Sulphur in Licks.

From tim© to timo various elaims are made regarding the valu© of adding sulphur to licks for sheep with a view to incteasing wool production. Work carried out at Glenfield in 1983 did not support thes© claims, and it is of interest to know, that recent work carried out at the Onderstepoort Research Station in South Africa fully eonfirms the findings at Glenfield. Experiments were carried out With five different sulphur supplements, and none of the experimental groups showed any significant advantage over the sheep that received no sulphur supplement at all.- The poillts whieh received the greatest attention were the greasy weights, the clean weights and the yield percentages of the fleece, together with mean fibro thickness and mean libre weights of shoulder samples of wool.
