H.B. UNION MEETS Hastings Members Reject Extra Representation OLD CONSTITUTIQN The carefuliy-framed new constitution of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union went by the board last evening at a special meeting of the union field before the annual meeting, wfien Hastings members rejected the extra representation offered tfiem. Consequently the annual meeting proceeded under the new rules, and the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union and Hastings Rugby Sub-Union remain separate entities. Following the reading of the minutes a notice of motion, signed by Messrs. J. W. Norrie, D. W. Corbett, B. Tweedie, N. A. Mackenzie, and K. A. Young. was read, moving that the resolutions, whereby the old rules be deleted and the new adopted, and that the new rules be placed before the honorary solicitor and if passed tako eifect from December 31, 1936, be rqscinded. On the applicatipn of Mr W. L. Dupn, xepresenting .Wairoa, the requisition to this effect, containing the iive signatures, was read. The chairman of last seaaon's executive, Mr J. W. Norrie, said that he did not copsider that there was much to be said. After the new rules had been framed and agreed upon, Hastings, upon further consideration of the question, had deeided that they were not satisfied. He therefor© moved that the rules and motions be rescinded, and this was seconded hy Mr N. A, Mackenzie. "I'm going to vote against the motion," said Mr Dunn, "I want to he in the position in a few years' timo to be able to say 'I tpid you so'. Hastings will realise that they have lost h glorious opportunity ,to obtain more representation on tho executive, At the special meeting they voted for all the new rules bar one, and that was a minor matter that could easily have been fixed up. I would be jnterested to know why they are now not in favour of what has been granted them, and why they have turned down ipcreased representation. "I think this meeting would do a great service to Rugby in Hastings if they refuse to rescind the motions, and it will be a great advantage if they, realise that." Mr T. W. Hercock: As far as I remernber thq Hastings delegates said at the time that certain points had arisen that had not been brought before thqir committees in Hastings. The unibn offered certain. tliings, but if they are prepared te disregard thejn and think there is something behind the move, then that is their own, affair. There is no reason why Napier should. go agaipst them, as they were perfectly satisfied with the old order. "All you gentlemen know what is tlxought in Hastings," commented Mr VV. O'Neill, "and I think that you all know that there is not any distrust. Mr Dunn knpws that, but if he wants a whack at me, 1*11 have a whack at him " The motion wa? then put, and carried against three dissenting voioe?. Mr Dunn requested that hj? vote against the motion be recorded, and the meeting then proceeded undejf the old constitution of the unipn.
