Splendid Fields For To-morrow PROSPECTS ANALYSED

Telegraph

AUCKLAND, This Day. A good track and splendid fields will make for some keen raeing at Avondale to-morrow, ' the . opening day of the Avondale Jockey Club's autumn fixture. The old betting system will be in operation. ' Considering the drop in stake money from the xich prizes offered at Ellerslie earlier in the week, the number and clas3 of the acceptors for the main event, the Eoley Meinorial Handicap, ia nothing short of remarkable, sixteen remaining in the contest. The t'opweight is1 Mazir, and given a dry track he has been offered a wonderful opportunity to add to his record. He is very handily placed, the big course and the long straight will suit him, and in addition he is a very fit horse. Gay Talkie is in winning vein and now within a pound of the much-better performed Mazir he will be tried right out. A Haudy Sort. Master Brierly is not yet done with, aiid a dry track may find him troublesomej he was noticed running on strongly -on Tuesday. Miss Lu does not appeal in this class, and Velocipede, winner of the Avondale Cup on this track six months back, may want a race. Royal Appellant is a very handy sort, -and in the opinion of a great many he should have won the Easter Handicap on Monday; he was !last out of the barrier and was a close fourth at the finish. Actually on the handicap he appeals more than anything. Lagoon is now overdue for a good stake and this may be her chance to make amendsj she ran exeellent races at Te •Rapa and Te Aroha a few weeks ago. Sinking Fund is another of the useful type for a Tace of this d6scription. Knight of Australia is a fit horse, and he ran well on Tuesday. Shy is another lightweight hope on Te Aroha running, while Gay Rose registered a fine performanee in winning on Tuesday. Lprnacre, Valrent, Round Up and Gay Broney appeal in a modest way and Loombination, on. performances, appears to like this track. A Sprint Problem. The Railway Handicap offers just as big a problem as the middle distance contest. Some with very bright prospects are Triune, Golden Sheila, Lornacre, Adalene, King Neptune, Prince Acre (if it should be heavy), Star Artist^ Gay Seton,- Ora'te, Rollicker and Anion. In the other events further probloms will confront speculators. The following' may be in demand tomorrow: — • ROSEBANK HANDICAP.— School Song, Tip Toes, Erndale. • AVONDALE HURDLES. — Modern Maid, Sandy Dix, Sand Drift. CHEVALIER HACK. — Palustre, V ^p,mito, Royal Passage. FOLY MEMORIAL HANDICAP.— Mazir, Royal Appellant, Gay Talkie. * OAKLEY HANDICAP. — Saccone, Highborn, Dragon Moth. RAILWAY HANDICAP. — Golden Sheila, Tray Bit, Prince Acre. WHAU HACK.— Black Muslc, Prince Rangi, Ringshot. TITIRANGI HANDICAP. — Orooning, Tybalt, Legatee. « -
