(RecKLved 2, 1.45p.m.) , RABAT, April I. Tens of thousands of once fierce warriors are threatened .with starvatiort in the parched areas of soutbern Moroccos. General Nogues, resident General* of Morocco, has requisiticmed all the available barley supplies in the north and is rushin'g them southward to relieve the famin.e. When the French troops ended the tribal wars in 1934 the peaceful condition of southern Morocco* attracted thousands of Nomads who, with. their goats and camels crowded the desert villages; but there has been no rain for three years, resultiag in an acute famine. Some of the natives pleaded with the Erench officer s to permit them to go north, but the authorities refused, knowing they could not cross the deserfc with their families and starving herds.. Many who set out without permission died by the wayside.
