Annual Meeting of Sub-Union

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Central Hawke 'e Bay Rugby Sub-Union, the president, Mr R. A, Fraser, presiding. Mr B, L. Wallis, who took the chair until the arrival of Mr Fraser, referred to the death of Mr D. P. McLean, who had been patron of the sub-union. As a mark of respect members stood in silence. Mr G. Voyce congratulated the subunion and those responsible for the excellent positlon as revealed in the balance-eheet. Mr C. A. Gallagher stressed the need of getting the patronage of the public at club games and arousing more iu terest in R'-gby footbail. Mr R. Yyuij, said that he held hopes of -Waipawa fielding a cemor team this year. Public support was dwindling, said Mr Wynn, and it was up to the subuion to do something in the matter. Mr Wallis said that matters were not really as bad as they looked, and he thonght that with the better times the game -would progress. The election of offieers resulted: — Patron, Mr N. M. Paulsen; president, Mr R. A. Fraser; vice-presidents, Messrs A. E. Jull, J. D. Ormond, and J. Russell; chairman of the management compiittee, Mr A. L. McCormick; secretary, Mr C. M. Williamson; treasurer, Mr R. S. Ricketts; management committee, Messrs 'W. Cuthbertson (Takapau), E. G. Kedgiey (H.S.O.B.), T. Nicholl (Waipawa), C. A. Gallagher (Waipukurau), G. Holby (Omakere), J. Fergusou (Ongaonga), R. O. Sharpe (Te Aute), G. H. Voyce (Otane), and W. J. Phillips (Referees' Association); delegate to management committee of the- Hawke 's Bay Rugby Union, Mr A. Kirkpatriek; hon. auditor, Mr C. M. T. Moore; delegates to annual meeting of the Hawke 's Bay Rugby Union, MesSrs, A. ■ Kirkpatriek and C. M. Williamson; senior selector, Mr P. Bridgeman; junior selector, Mr J. Piki. The following applications for affiliation were received: — ^Takapau, one senior, one junior; H.S.O.B., one senior, one junior; Waipukurau, one senior, one junior; Te Aute, one senior, one 'junior; Otane, one senior; Ongaonga, one senior; Omakere, one senior; Waipawa, one junior. ; .Mr C. M. Williamson said that the sub-union appreciated the valuable work done by Mr Wallis as cnairiuan of the management committee. Several other members spoke endorsing Mr Williamson 's remarks. On a motion moved by Mr N. M. Paulsen, it was decided to lea/ve the opening date of the Central Hawke 's Bay Rugby season to be decided by the management committee.
