Dr. Townsend hopes to repay the loans from" the profits of his we&ly . newspaper. - Meanwhile; Mrs. Euth Chatfield, a civic -leader- at - Baldwin, Long Mand, asserted that. the Townsend plan starts .at the wrong end. She has proposed a similar loan of • 10,000,000 dollats to Stimulate the birth-rate and paya bonus of 500 dolters to parents for each child from an alliance. A cable message on Monday stated that Dr. Townsend ,had proposed a loan of 5,000,000 . dollars from his followers to -be nsed for a . cainpaign to educate the nation to assure the adoption of his pension plan. • He appealed for individual loans of a xtxinimum of ten dollars On an un'secured promisory note payable in 24 months with interest at 4 per'cent.
