Puketapu Family Escapes in Night Attire none of contents saved The five-Toomed house occupied by Mr and Mrs W. H. Yenn on the Hakowhai road, Puketapu was totally destroyed by flre on Tuesday night. Mr and Mrs Venn were in bed. On hearing a strange noisq Mr Venit got up to investigate, and on opening the door leading into the living-room found the whole of the rear portion of the dwelling on fire. Mr and Mrs Venn hurriedly rescued their sleeping children, just carrying them out before the whole building was enveloped in flames. So quiekly did the fire spread that they were not able to save an article of any kind, having only their night attire left. The house was insured, but it is not known whethev the contents were covered.
