VITAL STATISTICS
The Napier Figures Increases in. all sections of the vital statistics for ihe Napier district were shown in the figures for March as compared with those for March of last year. The greatest increase is shown in the number of deaths, of which 27 were registered, a greater number than for any month in the past three years. Ua five gccasions only in the past three years has; . the monthly total of births been exceedcd by that of deaths, as for last month. Following is a table of statistics for the first quarter of the year, as com- , pared with that for the corresponding period of last year: —
Births recorded last month numbered 36, deaths 27, and nlarriages 21.
