Serymgeour, has built up a successful career for himself as a stock breeder, in spite of tho loss oi his sight," provides a remarkable instance of courage in the faee of serious disability. Mr Serymgeour, who lives in Warwick, Queensland, was a pupil at Otago Boys£ High School from 1898 to 1901, and, in response to an inqniry from the Did Boys' Association, he has supplied partioulars of his subsequent Career. He lost his sight when serving with the Queensland Light Horse, 2nd Regiment, in 1918, at Mersalaba, Jordan Yalley, receiving a bullet through both eyes while dragging in a badly wounded man. After spending 15 months at St. Dunstan' s Institute, where he learned Braille, typrewriting and poultr.vkeeping, Air Serymgeour started to breed beef Shorthorns. For the past six ' years he has bred the champion Shorthorn bull of Queensland, for' the past five years the champion cow and in 1934 won the champion award for cows against all Australia at the Sydney Hoyal Show. He feeds, grooms and culls stock, still rides 6n horseback, and is his own secretary. Before leaving New Zealand for Queensland Mr Serymgeour was for two years in tho Marton branch of Dalgety and Co., Ltd. ! "■ ^
