WELLINGTON, March 29. Amid cheers and the singing of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and *'Auld Lang Syne" the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage bade adieu to New Zealand as he started on his mission to represent New Zealand at the Imperial Conference and Coronation. A huge crowd gathered on Glasgow Wharf aiongsido the Arawa, which is bearing Mr Savage and his party, and members of the New Zealand cticket team, to England. The night was a perfect one, with. a ful Easter moon, lighting the scene from a lightly mottled sky. The liarbour was glAssy cairn. "With sailing time near, the Prime Minister stepped forward to the rail and addresteed the assembly on the Wharf. "Ladies and gentlencien, " he said, "although I am on board this ship my heart is with you. I am looking forward to the time wlien I shall be with you in Wellington again. I thank you for your presence her© to* night, and it is an indieation that One goes abroad with the goodwill of thousands of New Zealand citizens." At the bidding of the Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, who, with other Ministers was standing with Mr Savage, the throng below then sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." A man climbed a crana and handed Mr Savage a. red streamer, which the Prime Minister smilingly accepted. It parted, however, before his wellwisher had regained the wharf. Someone called out suggesting the singing of the "Bed Flag," but as the vessel started to move all voices joined in singing "Auld Lang Syne." Other members of the official party were the secretary of the Treasury, Mr G C. Rodda, M.B.E., Mr C. A. Berendsen, C.M.G., Permanent Head of the Prime Minister 's Department, and Mr C. A. Jeffery, C.M.G., Chief Private Seeietary to the Prime Minister and clerk of the Executive Council. They were accompanied by their wives. Also present were the heads of State departniqnts and members of the Ministerial private secretarial corps. Among the full complement of passengers were the three delegates of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association, Messrs E. J. Howard, F. W. Schramm and W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. 's. Mrs Broadfoot accompanied her husband.
