INCREASED PR0F1TS Advertising Tfee FertiHser of Business At the annual general meetins o+" Booth 's Distilleries, Ltd., held in London recently, Lord Lurgan, K.C.V.O., chairman of tho company^ who presided, aiade the following comments upon the value of advertising of the company 's products ' ' Naturally, the mcreased trading profit has not been obtained without an increase in working and selling expenses, the largest of which is, as usual, advertising, which accounts for approximately 76 per «nt. of the increase. I said last year that 'advertising is the fertiliser of business, and that the effect is cumulative, ' which statemciit has been fully borno out and proved during the year under review. We consider our outlay on advertising at Home and abroad not only justified, but essential, and any undue or arbitrary cutting down of tliis would no doubt also hnA'e a cumulative effect, but in tho wrong direction. " The chairman said tho net profit for Ihe year a-nouuted to £107,862 14/2, an Increase of £42,166 6/10. A dividend at the rat6 of per cent. per annum less taz was agreed to, A
