Sensation at Hawera Trots

[ HAWERA, Last Night. ! The most sensational trotting divi.dend since L. F. Berkett's grey mare, Wairoa Belle, with only one ticket on her chance, won at Nelson in 1920, paying over a thousand pounds, was returned to-day by Unworthy, winner of the Opunake Handicap, whose return was a little in excess of three centnries, and Unworthy is an aged trotter by Worthy Bingen, sire of the mile 'trotting" recor clholder Worthy Queen (2.3 3-5) from a Pelerete mare. He is owned by Mr O. Osborne and trained at Midhurst by E. J. Laird. Unworthy has only had one previous win, scoring at the Wairarapa meeting of 1935. He was having his fourth start for the meeting and was evidently improved by the racing. Five ten shilling tickets were held on Unworthy on the win maehine and 35 011 the place maehine, his dividend on the latter being under a score. As far as can be ascertained the ten tickets were held by the owner, his son, the trainer, a butter factory worker from Pihama, and a Hawera bakery van driver,
