PORT SCOTS' SOCIETY

Monthly Ingleside Tbe Port Caledonian Society beld i.ts montbly ingleside in tbe Buffalo Hbll, Port Ahuriri, on Wednesday evening. Tbere was an unusually large attendance, and a particularly enjoyable evening was spent. The usual programme and modern dances was interspersed witb musical and dance items whicb thoroughly deligbted tbe audience and constituted a programme of exceptional merit. Tbe musical programme was arranged by Madame Mercer, and included items by ber choir, vocal solos by Shirley Boardman, Mona Owens, and Sibyl Bobinson, duet by Sibyl Robinson and Merle Beacb, song in costume by Shirley Boardman, duets in cosbume by Nancy Gilray and Margaret Butcber, and Misses Clune and Beacb. Tbe special dance items, Highland fiing, sword dance, skipping dances* Irisb bompipe, tap dances, Irisb jig, and Bussian dance. Tbis programme was given by Miss Hazel Lee's pupils, and eacb item was so well done tbat only tbe ban on encores prevented most of tbem being 'repeated. Tbe wbple musical and dance programme gave rare deligbt, wbile tbe pipe band selections were also greatly enjoyed. Mr and Mrs Berry supplied tbe music for tbe ordinary dance programme, wbile Mr J. Hunter piped for tbe special dances. Mr W. J. Key was a very efficient M.G. and tbe cbief, Mr IT. McConnell, presided. A number of visitors were present. j
