Prospects For Saturday's Meeting
(By
The autumn meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club will be hold on the Feilding racecoufse on Saturday 'and Monday next. The acceptances, considering the many other meetings on at the sarno time, are most satisfactory. The Hawke's Bay horses engaged aro Lord Hereford, Jazz Boy, Charade, Top Hat, Ben Braggie, Blue Garter ^and Wananga (second day). The sport will open with the — KAWA KAWA HURDLES Of £150; 1J mile and 130 yards. Manawatu has been in work some timo, and on the fiat has been gallop"ing well. Lord Hereford has been consistent. Bazain has a couple of hurdle races to his credit, but it must be said they were a ragged lot that finished behind. Hunting Queen is a dandy over "the "bobs" and may make a big name for himself this season. Of the others Invietus and Indiscretion are perhaps the best. Most money may be on HUNTING QUEEN, LORD BERESFORD and MANAWATU." ONGO HACK HANDICAP" Of £150; 6 furlongs, . . Erebus. and.Eara, half li ro ther and sister, both possess speed, but at the weights the former appeals the most. Silver River is but a m?derate at his .best. The Bigot has been racing disappointingly, but may come to it any day now. Jazz Boy goes fast but stops quiekly, but on this small turning track may run better than he did at either Napier or Wellington (January). Imposture is not even among the useful class so far. Dancing Lady is a recent winner. Flying Chief won a double a month back on the other coast. Corroboree is now being tried over a shorter course, which might suit him better. The balance are not very fiash. Most monev may be carried by DANCING LADY, CORROBOREE and FLYING CHIEF. FEILDING OUP Of £500; li mile Dungarvan has proved himself. Spiral is an in-and-out gort, but always appears to bo able to give of his best on this track. Lowenberg is also engaged at Tauherenikau. Ouewhetu this time last year struck form with a vengeance, winning both days at this particular meeting. He i's repoxted to be showing his old dash again, and last Saturday, as a preliminary, ran third in a seven-i'urlon-g event. Taitoru is consistent and was successful in his last-up. Grand Jury and Lapel appear out of their class after failing at Pahiatua. The Buzzer may be the surprise packet. The light-weights are a fair lot. When the last ticket is sold most of them may be found to be on the chances of THE BUZZER, ONEWHETU and SPIRAL. maiden stakes Of £110; 6 furlongs. Like all autumn maiden fields they are a poor lot. Form points to the favourjtes being RACECALL, OHANGA and TOPHAT. MANGAONE HANDICAP Of £250; 6 furlongs. Dungarvan, if started here, should not want for friends. Karl will be suited to tbe track. Ben Braggie, after his second to Gold Boa at Wellington the other week, will not lack monetary support. Refresher, as old as he is, must not be disregarded, wet or fine. Lady Ina has the best recent form of the remainder. The favourites may be BEN BRAGGIE, DUNGARVEN and KARL. TAONUI NURSER-Y ' Of £150; 5 furlongs. Geira is a .boomed filly, but after half a mile is not difficult to colleet. Laughing Prince ran well at Pahiatua. Licken is galloping well, as also is Settlement. Gay Molly won easily at Pahiatua. Of the others little is known. What wlil be better backed than GAY MOLLY, GEIRA and LAUGHING PRINCE? ONEPUHI HACK HANDICAP Of £100; one mile and a distance. Catalogue, in his last three starts, ran first, first and second. Repair beat the Lord Quex gelding in the latter's last race. Sanhedrin is fair, but War Lap's win in the Champion Hack at Pahiatua draws attention his way. Happy Hunting is a possibility without being recommended. Yonia Park won at Pahiatua, and Puroto ran second at the same gathering. A small field and all possessing recent form, but perhaps the best is possessed by CATALOGUE. WAR LAP and REIPAR. HALCOMBE WELTEB Of £200; 6 furlongs Entail has no form to recommend him. Gay Boy may surprise, although he has not raced of late. Refresher will be seriously consldered if starteo here. Jubilee wants an easy track, while Hunting Lodge will.be one to ponder over. International is consistent and may prove a good 'un later on. Airing, Blue Garter and Huntette may possess outside chances, but the money may go the way of INTERNATIONAL, REFRESHER 'and HUNTING LODGE.
