Annual Meeting of H.B. Association The annual. general meeting of the Hawka' s . Bay Boxing Association .was held. in the. Chamber of Commerce rooms, Hastings, last evening, Mr D. M. . Campbell presiding over a fair attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the annual report (previously published) the chairman congratulated the association upon the success
and achievements of the season. It was very pleasing indeed, he said,' to note that the surplus of 'income over expenditure for the year amounted to £4.9 19/8, despite the fact that the loss on the professional contests during the season totalled £108 3/3After expressing the association' s thanks to Miss Ruth Connop and all those who assisted her in the Bathing Belle competition, which augmented the association' s funds to the extent of nearly £70, the chairman said that thanks. were also due to Mr and Mrs D. M. Campbell, Mr and Mrs H. Connop, Mr and. Mrs J. Flynn, and Mr and Mrs S. Standing for their wonderful help in connection with the visit of Joe Hall. Thanks were also due to the patron, Mr. John Chambers, the president, Mr Donald Campbell, and to the vice-presidents for the active interest that had been displayed at all times in the activities of the association. Thanks were due to the executive officers and committee for the manner in which they had worked throughout the year, and to the Press and to the police for the co-operation extended during the year. To the honorary medical officers and the honorary solicitors, Messrs Hallett and O'Dowd, the executive would like to offer sincere thanks and to express appreciation of tho services reudered by them.. The executive must again place on record the wonderful service rendered the association by the honorary secretary, , Mr J. Sticldand, and in recording thanks and appreciation, must mention that the assoc-ation was very grateful for the work which had been done by him over a period of vears. Thanks were also due to the trainers, to the doorkeepers, tieket-sell-ers and those who assisted in erection of the ring), and to others who in any way assisted the association during the year. Baillie, D. H. Newbigin, H. Abbott and J. D. Dexter; committee, Messrs H. G. Apperley, H. Connop, L. J. B. Hammorid, V. H. Oollela, R. de Lisle, W. Peters, B. Sbadbolt, E. J. Wall and G, Warfen; bon. secretary } Mr J. Stickland ; bon. treasurer, Mr J. D. Donovan; bon. auditor, Mr F. J. Corbin ; bon. solicitors, Messrs Hallett and O'Dowd. Before the meeting it was aunouiiced tbat Mr Stickland and Mr Donovan did
nor. mtend to seek office as secretary and treasurer respectively, but as there were no nominations received for these otffices both were prevailed upon to continue in office. It was . decided to place 011 record tho appreciatiou of tbe association of the servic.es of Messrs W. J. Baillie, tbe retiring chairman of committee, and ■ W. Nesbitt and. J. Dexter, all of wbom did not seek re-eJection. . Thanks ■ were expressed to tbe Pioneer Wrestliug Club anj the Napier Boxing Association lor tbe loau of gcar during the season. 1 The question oi matcbing Billy Martin -and Bill Pluto towards the end of April was discussed and recommended for favourable consideration by tho match committee.
